Firestick wont allow me to download apps (2020)

I am trying to download app on my firestick. It is not already showing on apps and games. When I go to amazon App Store it’s says it’s not available. When I try to go to search and look for it several different ones come up but they all bring me to a guide where I can pay for shows. I’m not sure if this issue is due to a firmware update with either the Netflix app or an update to the Fire Stick itself. The problem doesn’t seem to happen during viewing using my other Fire Stick 4K apps. I deleted and reinstalled the Netflix app and it didn’t seem to fix the issue. I bought a firestick to download kodi too. I have tried to download no limits and placenta and about 3 others. Not one of them would let me put the build into kodi. I got the failed message about add-ons. I run single movie apps like Terrarium Tv on the stick. I would really like to use Kodi. HELP!!! Why will my fire stick not download any apps? I have even sent the Amazon app store app to my fire tv and fire stick using .y phone and fire tablet and would get a message saying it was sent successfully.
